Abstract:A involute spur gear model was constructed by parameter method on CATIA platform,and the frictional characteristic of gear tooth profile was analyzed by transmitting the model to ANSYS software by IGES file format.The variation law of gear contact stress and friction and contact pressure in gear meshing process was investigated by only changing the friction coefficient.The results show that,when the friction coefficient is less than 03,the gear contact stress,friction and contact pressure are increased along with the increasing of friction coefficient,and the increase becomes smaller when the friction coefficient is in between 03 to 08.The increase of gear contact stress,friction and contact pressure will accelerate the failure of gear tooth and shorten the fatigue life,therefore,it is a feasible method to improve pitting corrosion resistance and extend fatigue life of gear by reducing friction coefficient.
