Abstract:A chaos shoot in microchannels was produced under electroosmotic of AC electric field,in order to improve the mixing efficiency.Numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the fluid mixing process by COMSOL based on finite element method,the effects of the AC electric field strength,the AC electric field frequency,the quantities of electrodes and the electrodes polarity on the mixing efficiency were analyzed.The results indicate that the electroosmotic of AC electric field can produce a chaos shoot to effectively increase the mixing efficiency in microchannels.The mixing efficiency can be improved by increasing the AC electric field strength,the AC electric field frequency and the quantities of electrodes.The opposite polarity for the adjacent electrodes leads to the better micromixing effect because of significant chaos of fluid and larger contact area for fluid.
