Abstract:There must be strong bond strength between friction material and the substrate to ensure the mechanical properties and service life of friction material as well as the safety of the brake. The bond strengths of the friction material with the untreated substrate and with the sandblasting substrate were studied under different shear temperature. The results show that with the increase of the shear temperature, the bond strength of the friction material with the substrate is increased firstly and then decreased. At low shear temperature, there is not obvious difference of the bond strength of the friction material with the untreated substrate and with the sandblasting substrate. While at high shear temperature, the bond strength of the friction material with the sandblasting substrate is evidently higher than that of the friction material with the untreated substrate.Resinbased friction material and substrate present different fracture mechanism under different shear temperature. At lower temperature, fracture surface is in the interface of friction material and adhesive which is closer to the friction material’〖KG-*2〗s side, while at higher temperature, fracture surface is in the interface between adhesives. And fracture interface changes to the interface between substrate and adhesive with the further increase of shear temperature.
