The wear of mechanical seal is related with vibration caused by stickslip.The friction and wear test was carried out with the static and dynamic rings of mechanical seal as the friction pairs.By analyzing the changing trend of friction coefficient and the wear surface morphology of the static and dynamic rings,it was proposed that the stickslip vibration occurs during the relative motion between the static ring and the dynamic ring.Considering the stiffness of the dynamic ring,the stickslip model of mechanical seal was established.The effect of stickslip motion on surface morphology and the stickslip wear mechanism of seal pairs were illuminated through the simulation analysis.The results show that the rotating of dynamic ring under the friction torque leads to stickslip.The maximum speed of dynamic ring reaches twice high as the speed of rotor.Stickslip does not occur in the quick start stage,and it just happens when the speed fluctuates.When the ring speed rises stably,the stickslip phenomenon disappears.The stickslip causes severe adhesive wear of the seal surface finally
