Abstract:Aging is one of the important factors that affect the mechanical properties and service life of rubber seals.Through the accelerated heat oxygen aging experiments under different temperature and time based on nitrile rubber(NBR) sealing materials, the effect of aging time and aging temperature on the mechanical properties of NBR was studied, and the life prediction of NBR was carried out through the temperature extrapolation based on the Arrhenius equation. The results show that with the increase of aging temperature and aging time, the hardness of NBR is increased, and the elongation at break is decreased. The 100% elongation stress is first increased rapidly and then becomes stable, while the tensile strength is increased in the early stage of aging and then decreased, compression permanent deformation is increased gradually. When the aging temperature is over 105 ℃,the mechanical properties of NBR are decreases rapidly. The failure time of NBR at 23 ℃ is about 13 years with elongation at break as a evaluating indicator of the service life of NBR.
