Abstract:Based on the theory of elastohydrodynamic lubrication,by establishing the lubrication analysis model to calculate the viscosity of lubricating oil,a method for determining the lubricant viscosity was put forward, which is scientific and reasonable and convenient for practical application.Firstly,Based on the rheological experiments under different temperatures and wide range of shear rate,a curvefitting formula for calculating the viscosity of lubricating oil with the influence of temperature and shear rate was first presented.A thermo elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) model was then established for the rough surface in point contact, and the model was verified by optical EHL thickness measurement and the experiment of friction coefficient. The lubricant viscosity was finally determined based on lubrication simulation and film thickness over roughness ratio. This method is based on the theoretical simulation of lubrication considering the influence of temperature, pressure and shear rate, and hence has guiding significance for the optimizing selection of lubricant in the lubrication design of typical parts.
