The wheel/rail wear characteristic of a metro line was obtained by field measurement.The metro vehicletrack dynamics model was built by the multibody dynamics software UM.The normal and tangential wheel/rail contact forces were solved by the Hertzian theory and Kalker’s simplified theory,respectively.The Archard wear model was adopted to investigate the effect of rail lubrication on rail side wear.The control measures of rail wear with sharp curves were put forward.The results of field investigation indicate that the side wear is the main form on sharp curves due to the lack of effective lubrication on outer rail side.The rail side wear is more serious on the tight curves.Simulation results show that the outer rail side wear can be mitigated effectively by lubricating.The wear area of outer rail can be reduced by 9%~34% by applying lubrication on the outer rail side of curve with radius of 350 m.The wear reduction effect is obviously decreased when lubricating on curves with radius larger than 600 m.According to the simulation results,it is suggested to lubricate the outer rail side for curves with radius less than 600 m.
