Abstract:The ABAQUS analysis software was used to establish the finite element model of the packer rubber. The contact stress between the rubber and the casing and its distribution along the axial direction at different working temperatures and the same working load were analyzed.Taking into account the changes of the temperature during the downhole operating at actual conditions, the sealing characteristics of the rubber were analyzed under two conditions of temperature increase and temperature decrease. The sealing performance of the rubber was also analyzed when considering the different torsion occurred in the rubber at different temperatures under actual operating conditions. The results show that the sealing performance of the rubber is increased with the increase of temperature when the load is constant. When the temperature is raised, except that the initial temperature is lower than 0 ℃,the greater the temperature difference is,the greater the increase of the maximum contact stress of the rubber, and the better the sealing performance of the rubber. When cooling, the greater temperature difference is,the greater the decrease of the maximum contact stress of the rubber, and the worse the sealing performance of the rubber. At a small angle twist, the increase of operating temperature will improve the sealing performance of the rubber, but will decrease the stability of the rubber.
