Abstract:Based on finite element theory and ABAQUS software, a finite element discrete model of seal ring cylinder assembly for a passenger car engine cylinder head bolts was built. The contact pressure and Von Mises of seal ring were calculated and the calculated results were compared with static surface pressure test results. The results show that the seal ring meets the conditions of sealing performance and strength design, which has enough safety margin of sealing performance. The simulation results agree well with the test results, which prove that the finite element simulation model is correct. Some factors influencing sealing properties were analyzed, such as friction coefficient between seal ring and cylinder as well as media pressure. The results indicate that the friction coefficient has a little influence on sealing performance. The maximum contact pressure in the sealing surface is increased with the increase of media pressure, and the sealing performance is improved significantly.
