Abstract:The nano lubricating oil dispersion systems were prepared by adding 3% modified nano-montmorillonite (nano-MMT) and nano palygorskite (nano-P) by coupling agent KH550 into the 150N base oil, and the dispersion effect of nano-MMT and nano-P in 150N base oil was analyzed by laser particle size analyzer,TEM and IR. The anti-wear and friction reducing behaviors of the nano lubricating oils were investigated on the MMU-10G abrasive wear tester with 45 steel as tribo-pairs, and the morphology and the element of the worn surfaces were analyzed by SEM and EDX. The results show that the modified nano-MMT has smaller grain size than nano-P, which has better dispersion stability in 150N base oil. The average friction coefficient and the wear mass loss of the 45 steel tribo pairs are declined in the nano lubricating oil dispersion systems compared with the base oil system, and the nano-MMT lubricating oil has the best anti-wear and friction reducing properties. The self repairing films that contain the characteristic elements of montmorillonite and palygorskite are formed on the samples surface when lubricated by nano-MMT and nano-P lubricating oils separately, and the content of montmorillonite characteristic elements is relatively high, indicating that the nano-MMT lubricant additive has better tribological properties to 45 steel tribo pairs.
