Abstract:The tungsten carbide cutting tools were deposited with TiAlN coatings by using laser technology,and surface textures were then fabricated on the rake face close to the main cutting edge of these coated tools.Cutting tests were carried out for coated tools with textures,textured tools and the conventional tools under the liquid lubrication conditions,and their cutting performances were compared.Results show that the cutting force,cutting temperature and friction coefficient at the tool-chip interface of the coated tools with textures and textured tools are significantly reduced compared with those of conventional tools,especially coated tools with textures.In liquid lubrication condition,the liquid can flow into the tool-chip interface of the coated tools with textures and textured tools due to the textures,so the anti-adhesive property and abrasive resistance are greatly enhanced,especially coated tools with textures.
