Abstract:At present the wheels’ economical re-profiling methods were widely adopted. But the flange thickness after re-profiling was not returned to the standard thickness. In order to explore the influence of wheel re-profiling on wheel-rail matching performance, and to provide a theoretical basis for the establishment of wheel re-profiling strategy, the static matching performance and dynamic performance of new re-profiling profiles with different thickness were compared and analyzed with that of standard wheels. Results show that under the current re-profiling methods, the thin rim profile is helpful to improve the critical speed of vehicle linear running, while other dynamic performance index fall slightly.Curve passing performance of wheels with different thickness of profiles is almost the same under different radius curve.Under the condition of small radius curve, the flange of all the profiles is contacted with the rail. When passing through the large radius curves, the thin flange profile has the risk of instability under a larger excitation of lateral displacement, which will cause larger wheel/rail lateral displacement and axle lateral force and result in the serious wear of flange.
