Abstract:A kind of waterbased clay lubricant without graphite was prepared,it was composed of Brucite clay as basic material, boric acid compound as lubricating additive, and the aluminum dihydrogen phosphate as antiwear additive.Effects of inorganic salt, boric acid, brucite components on friction properties were tested in fourball tester at different load, and the optimal proportion of the waterbased clay lubricant components was determined by orthogonal test. The improvement on lubrication performance by aluminum dihydrogen phosphate binder in the lubricant was studied. Results show that the optimal ratio of brucite, sodium fluoborate and boric acid is 12∶05∶7.The waterbased clay lubricant without graphite has good lubrication performance at low load but poor lubrication performance at high load compared with graphite lubricant.its friction coefficient is increased significantly with the load increasing, and the amplitude of variation is more obviously. After adding a small amount of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate binder, the lubricating ability of the waterbased clay lubricant without graphite is rapidly improved,it is possible for waterbased clay lubricant to replace graphite lubricant.
