The oxidation stability of linear olefin base oils with copper ions (Cu+/Cu2+) was researched by rotating pressure vessel method experiment and thermal oxidation experiment. The influences of reaction temperature and the concentrations of copper ions on the oxidation reaction rate were analyzed. The results show that it is stronger of oxidation at reaction temperature of 80 ℃ than at reaction temperature of 120 ℃.Metal ions can accelerate oxidation reaction rate during oxidation induction period (OIT),among which the reaction rate of the base oil with Cu+ is greater than that of the base oil with Cu2+.However,along with progress of oxidation, metal ions restrain the reaction rate of Olefins. The results of infrared spectroscopy analysis show that Cu2+ can increase the oxidation products of aldehyde, ketone and carboxylic acids, and Cu+ less than mass fraction of 0000 08 can reduce the oxidation products.Through the thermodynamic calculation, the cause was explained for larger reaction rate of the linear olefin with Cu+,and the existence of structure of clusters of olefins molecule was proved.
