Abstract:A theoretical investigation was carried out for the oil film distribution of journal bearing under the condition of sufficient lubrication and starved lubrication, and the distribution model of oil film under starved lubrication was established.According to Elrod algorithm, the finite difference method was adopted to solve the model based on the JFO boundary condition. The effect of different supply flow rate on the oil film distribution and the static equilibrium position of journal bearing under constant load was studied, and the effect of load change on the static characteristics of the oil film of journal bearing under starved lubrication was studied. The results show that under starved lubrication, with the decreasing of the supply flow rate, the eccentricity ratio of journal is increased, the start angle of the oil film is increased and the end angle is decreased, the full oil film coverage area is reduced, and the oil film thickness becomes thin. When the supply flow rate is constant, the phenomenon of starved lubrication will aggravate when increasing the load.
