Abstract:The effects of elliptical paraboloid texture on sliding bearing performance were studied.Taking radial sliding bearing as the research object,Reynolds equation of a sliding bearing with elliptical paraboloid texture was established.Using the finite difference method to discretize the equation and solving it with thesymmetric successive overrelaxation method,the performance parameter values of the sliding bearing were obtained and compared with smooth sliding bearing.The result shows that,for the single concave or convex surface texture,there is the same trend of bearing capacity and friction coefficient for the sliding bearing with the change of texture geometric parameters,and compared with smooth sliding bearing,the performance of the bearing has not been effectively improved.Considering the concave convex compound surface texture,the effects of it on sliding bearing performance were studied.It is found that there exists optimum texture geometric parameters which can increase the bearing capacity and reduce the friction coefficient of the sliding bearing,and the performance of the sliding bearing can be improved effectively.
