Aging strengthened 2024 aluminum alloy was analyzed by Xray diffraction (XRD) and the tribological properties of the strengthened and unreinforced aluminum alloy were studied on the MFTR4000 reciprocating friction and reducing tester when lubricated by the oil with molybdenum dithiocarbamate (MoDTC),zinc dialkyl dithiophosphates (ZDDP) and ashless organic phosphonate (T391) as aditives.Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to observe and analyze the worn surfaces, and the content of elements of the wear scar was obtained through EDS analysis. The results show that ageing strengthen can increase the hardness and improve the tribological performances of aluminum under different lubrication conditions. The friction reducing and antiwear properties are mainly dominated by the ageing strengthen and the friction and chemical mechanism of lubricating additives.
