Abstract:In order to monitor the diesel engine condition of lubrication and wear, the atomic emitting instrument was used to trace and analyze routine oil samples from the two types diesel engines equipped on the ships, and the concentration of 21 elements in each oil sample was obtained. The spectral data of all oil samples were analyzed by using factor analysis method.Based on load matrix and factor score analysis, the oil sample data was composed of three factors, respectively representing additive, wear and seawater. The threedimensional image of three factors can clearly show the wear, contamination and additive characteristics of each oil sample. The results show that using the method of analyzing the emission spectrum data of oil samples by factor analysis can classify the oil samples with different formulations, and can reveal the degrees of the wear of engine and the oil contamination by seawater.
