The wear simulation of the rotary shaft lip seal was performed by using the FEA software Abaqus.The contour shape of the seal lip and the evolution law of contact pressure over time were obtained by using the subroutine Abaqus/UMESHMOTION to simulate the wear process and control the adaptive meshing in related regions,and by determining the wear rate based on the wear factor model.To validate the capability of the present method,the wear depth was analyzed and compared with the experiment results.It is found that the seal lip wear can be divided into the initial rapid wear stage and the subsequent stable wear stage.In the early stage of wear,the wear rate is large,the interference between the seal ring and the shaft decreases,while the maximum contact pressure decreases rapidly at first,and then changes slowly.With the increasing of the wear time,the contour of the lip gradually becomes smooth,and the wear degree of the dust lip is higher than that of the main lip,indicating that the wear mainly occurs on the air side.
