Abstract:A lithium based solid grease was prepared with diisooctyl adipate as based oil to decrease the wearing between the rim and rail. The drop point,penetration,erosion property,moisture content,points oil rate,anti-wear property and biodegradability as-prepared grease were determined,and its structure characters were characterized. The results show that,when the molar ratio of hexane di-acid and 2-ethyl hexanol is 2.5∶1,the amount of water carrying agent is 7mL,catalyst is 0.146 g and the reaction time is 60min,the highest esterification rate of 99.13 % is reached. The grease with the best performance,whose drop point is 196.5℃,penetration is 280.4×0.1mm,and the maximum non seizure load is 490N,is obtained when the base oil accounts for 81% and thickening agent for 14%,the reaction temperature is controlled at about 105 ℃ for 3h,and a small amount of additives are added. The microbial degradation experiment shows that the di isooctyl adipate and the as prepared grease are biodegradable on a certain extent,the degradation rate is 78.2% and 69.6% separately.
