A frictioninduced selfexcited vibration model of a wheelsettrack system composed of a wheelset and two rails was established based on the viewpoint that the frictioninduced selfexcited vibration may lead to wheel polygonalization.A complex eigenvalue analysis provided by ABAQUS was conducted to study the trend of the frictioninduced selfexcited vibration.Some factors influencing the frictioninduced selfexcited vibration were researched,including the stiffness and damping values of fastener and the friction coefficient between the wheel and rail.The results show that the trend of the frictioninduced selfexcited vibration of wheelsettrack system is decreased with the decreasing of the friction coefficient and the increasing of the damping of fasteners.According to the simulation results,it was pointed out that the feasible measurements to control wheel polygonalization is to reduce the friction coefficient or increase the damping of the rail fastener.
