Abstract:A kind of aerostatic thrust bearing with a single continuous slotrestrictor was studied.The threedimensional gas film model of the bearing was built by Gambit software,and the simulations were carried out with the Fluent software to study the effects of the slot location,slot depth,slot width on the static characteristics of the bearing.The results show that with the increasing of slit in circle radius,the gas consumption is increased,and the bearing capacity and stiffness are fist increased and then decreased.With the increasing of slot width,the bearing capacity is increased gradually and then tends to be stable,and the stiffness and gas consumption are fist increased and then decreased.With the increasing of slot depth,the bearing capacity and gas consumption are decreased linearly,and the stiffness is fist increased and then decreased.Therefore,the static characteristics of the bearing can be improved when choosing the appropriate parameters of the bearing.Based on the simulation results,an aerostatic thrust bearing with a single continuous slotrestrictor was designed and manufactured,the bearing capacity with the variation of the gas film thickness and the gas supply pressure was tested on the gas bearing experimental platform.The results show that the bearing capacity is decreased with the increasing of the gas film thickness,and increased with the increasing of the gas supply pressure.The aerostatic thrust bearing with a single continuous slotrestrictor can meet the requirement of precision,and the experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results.
