Abstract:In order to analyze the corrosion characteristics and rule of rolling linear guides under corrosive conditions, accelerated corrosion tests were carried out on rolling linear guides, and their corrosion characteristics were characterized by SEM and EDS analysis. The surface treatment of rolling linear guides was employed by galvanizing, chromium plating, phosphating and PMC(PTFE+MoS2+graphite).Salt spray tests were carried out on the untreated guides and the four kinds of surface treated linear guides. The corrosion rates of rolling linear guides were analyzed by weight loss method. The results show that white spot, grey spot, black spot and red rust appear successively in the corrosion process of rolling linear guide. The corrosion products of rolling linear guides change from initial β-FeOOH and γ-FeOOH to Fe2O3 finally. The corrosion curves of rolling linear guides with different surface types follow the law of exponential function. The corrosion rates are untreated, phosphating, galvanizing,PMC and chromium plating in order respectively. The rolling linear guide after surface treatment is easier to be corroded by corrosive medium at the raceway first, and therefore, the surface treatment and protection of the raceway is particularly important
