Abstract:Glydring are made up of rectangular slip ring of polytetrafluoride (PTFE) and Oring of nitrile rubber(NBR).In order to study the influence of different factors on the friction and wear properties of the Glydring sealing materials, with the UMT-3 multifunctional friction and wear test machine, the performances of friction and wear of the Glydring materials matched with 45 steel were investigated considering the reciprocating frequency, roughness and lubrication state. The surface morphology of the test block before and after the test was observed with SEM,and the friction and wear mechanism was analyzed. The test results show that, under dry friction and oillubricated conditions, friction and wear performance of PTFE material is better than that of NBR material.Too high or too low surface roughness of NBR material will lead to an increase in friction coefficient, but roughness has little effect on PTFE materials due to its selflubricating properties. The friction coefficient of NBR material is decreased under high reciprocating frequency, but the friction coefficient of PTFE material is decreased as the reciprocating frequency is high or low.Abrasive and adhesive wear are the main wear forms of NBR material, however, adhesive and fatigue wear are dominant for PTFE material.
