The rubber/resin matrix composite friction material samples with different nitrilebutadiene rubber(NBR)content were prepared by the mixing method in combination with heat treatment technique. The thermal behaviors of the samples were analyzed using a thermal analyzer, and the friction and wear properties and wear mechanism were studied using wet friction performance tester QM1000ⅡB and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The experimental results show that, when the weight content of NBR reaches 25%,maximum dynamic and static friction coefficient are achieved and the wear rate of dual plate reaches the minimum. The friction material has obvious mechanical stripping at relatively low weight content of NBR,and shows obviously adhesive and abrasive wear characteristics at high weight content of NBR.The maximum decomposition temperature is decreased with the increasing of NBR weight content.
