Abstract:Lithiumcalcium complex greases were prepared with polyalphaole(PAO40)as base oil, lithium calcium soap as thickener, and multiplewalled carbon nanotubes modified by ionic liquid as additive, and their drop point, corrosion resistance and conductivity were tested. The friction and wear properties of the grease were investigated by FTR400 high speed reciprocating friction and wear tester. The surface of wear spots was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM).The results show that the ionic liquid modified carbon nanotubes improve the conductivity and tribological properties of the grease. The ionic liquid modifier with low carbon chain has a significant effect on improving the conductivity of the grease, and the ionic liquid modifier with long carbon chain has a more effective effect on improving the friction reducing and antiwear properties of the grease, which is attributed to the interaction between the carbon nanotubes and the ionic liquid polarity to improve the conductivity and tribological properties of the grease.
