For a plane pad bearing,the thermal hydrodynamic lubrication model considering the influences of temperature on oil density and viscosity was built.The temperature field was solved by finite difference procedure,and the pressure field by multi grid method.The effects of geometry wedge and thermal wedge on load carrying capacity were analyzed with several cases of surface boundary conditions.Results show that thermal effects reduces the load capacity of wedged pad bearing,but for a parallel pad bearing the contribution of thermal wedge on the load capacity is positive.
