Abstract:In order to research the effect of surface texture on the load-carrying capacity of sliding surface under grease lubrication, six different types of surface textures with the same depth and areal occupation ratio were designed, including segment of sphere, equilateral triangle, segment of ellipsoid, cone frustum, isosceles trapezoid and right triangle, and the load-carrying capacity of the surface textures was investigated by the CFD software. It is found out that the equilateral triangle texture has the strongest load-carrying capacity. The effects of textural depth, areal occupation ratio and clearance of friction pairs on the load carrying capacity were discussed for the equilateral triangle. The results show that the load-carrying capacity is increased with the increasing of areal occupation ratio within limits. Under the same condition of areal occupation ratio, the change rule of load carrying capacity with textural depth is roughly: firstly decreased then increased and decreased again. The smaller theclearance of friction pairs, the greater the load-carrying capacity is.
