Abstract:The lubrication property of microdroplet was researched by using an oil film thickness measuring system of conformal contact.In the experiments,the lubricated contact was composed of stationary microslider plane and rotating transparent glass disc,the film thickness of the lubricants with different viscosity was measured under microdroplet lubrication and fully flooded lubrication.The experimental results show that a droplet of lubricant can be spread on the running track by the rotating disc,and continuous lubrication is then generated,indicating a small quantity of lubricant of microdroplet can supply sufficient lubrication.The film thickness is increased with the increasing of speeds at first and then remains nearly constant when a certain speed is reached.The interferograms show when only a small quantity of lubricant supplied,the contact is not completely supported by lubricant film,and some air and lubricant mixture film appears and may bear some load.
